Alertness Breach
Copyright 2002 by Jon Gill

Let me put a new spin on the world
A world we're spinning into
Where on the grounds of sin and lies
They'll force the Christ-like underground
By separation of church and state
The church will be pushed from a state of
Discontented laziness to
Persecuted awareness.

Wake up, O chosen ones!
Take up arms against the foe
Any sleep other than that found in Christ
Is a knockout pill from the Other.

Wonder why they can't trust the Bible?
They read you instead, and can't trust you
They could trust the unseen One
If only they could see Him in you.

Doctor your doctrine to make it fit
But something important you forget
That a church divided against itself
Is full of empty pews
And a hidden lamplight will be snuffed out.

Do you want to hear when you're there
Who in Hell you are
Because you didn't care to know
The Lord of the Heavens?
Will He say "who are you? get away from me"
Or "I couldn't wait for you to be with me!"
When I climb Jacob's ladder
I'd rather hear the latter.
