Why I'll Never Be A Cowboy
Copyright 2002 by Jon Gill
Chorus:
Let me tell you why I’ll never be a cowboy
No, it’ll never be my livin’ anyhow, boy
Though I like the moon and stars
And the life in local bars
I ain’t singin’ country music, this I vow, boy!
1.
When yer sittin’ round the fire eatin’ beans
And you get the natural gas that’s not so clean
If you learn to stand the smell
Then you live the life too well
And you’ll spend your days just tryin’ to look mean
2.
With a six-gun at my side I ride a horse
And the fastest way to send stuff is by Morse
I’ll shoot the sheriff on demand
And I cheat in poker hands
As a cowboy I can do these things, of course
3.
Being a cowboy is different sort of world
Where the only dames I meet are saloon girls
I use a cactus for a pillow
And I call my rivals ‘yellow’
Still the country music makes me want to hurl!
4.
When I’m way out in the desert ‘neath the stars
And I’m strummin’ on my trusty ol’ guitar
As I’m hootin’ like an owl
I make the coyotes howl
I suppose this career ain’t gettin’ me too far...
