Forget Me Not
Copyright 2005 by Jon Gill
A day has passed us by, but once again
A day has never made us grow more near
A day that has been giv’n to family, friends
A day for gifts to last for one more year
A stocking with no foot to fill its whole
A tree without a root to hold its own
A fire with no heat to warm a soul
A birthday with no candle to be blown
A manger with no hay for ox to eat
An inn without a room for which to rent
A will enthroned without an open seat
A message never heard has still been sent:
An ear to hark the herald angels sing
The Covenant God to Man salvation brings.
