The Hard Rock
Copyright 2005 by Jon Gill

Be it law or theory yet unproven
Well it is known the rule of movement
That what is firmly built on solid ground
Will stand when storm or tempest comes around.

In a world with storm clouds never known
A house's use could not be truly shown
For what roof is built if not for rain?
Relief is never needed without pain.

And just as every walker needs a foot
And every tree digs deep with many roots
Far more needed than a changing face
So does every shelter need its base.

And pressure hardens each foundation stone
These two gems shall yield to One alone
And this, the sturdy cord with strands of three
Cannot be bent nor broken easily.

And so these gems resemble you and me
With sparkles more than facets to be seen
Each rock foundation sturdy on our own
Is beautiful when set before the Throne.
