Scarecrow in a Cucumber Field
Copyright 2000 by Jon Gill
See Jeremiah 10:3-5,8, NASB
I watched from a hill one day
The goings-on of man
They cut down trees and carve them out
A god by their own hands
They decorate it with silver and gold
And fasten it with nails
To a stick in the middle of the field
All bow down and give hail!
Like a scarecrow in a cucumber field
Their god, he cannot speak
They're stupid and foolish in their delusion
Their wooden idol is so weak
Come, all you wounded and sick
Bring your requests to the Stick
Will he lead his people in tow,
Or is he just a perch for the crows?
See the anger in his fierce painted eyes
When we expose his ridiculous lies
He'd raise his hand and lay down the law
If his arm wasn't made out of straw...
