Love Sonnet #2
Copyright 2005 by Jonathan Gill
On the time and music of love.
When in the year can love be grandest shown?
In springtime when the flowers are in bloom
Can autumn's colors make your beauty known
Or winter grasp my solitary gloom?
What summer's day can ever be compared
As some great bards may yet be wont to try
But nature's chapters still have never dared
Attempt a song so long with notes as high
Its music not beginning with the dawn
Nor dusk can ever set its limit's end
And even seasons are this anthem's pawn
For time can but our symphony defend
In every day our strength and love are fed
For all the notes and seasons yet ahead.
